Shaping Tomorrow’s Builders

MCC-BMF2025

Multi-Craft Contractors at Build My Future NWA

April 9 2025, the Springdale Convention Center was full of excitement as over 1800 students from Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley explored the world of skilled trades at the Annual Build My Future NWA Career and Construction Day event. As a proud Program Level Sponsor, Multi-Craft Contractors (MCC) is honored to have played an important role in making this event a success, continuing our commitment to investing in the future of our industry and community.

For those unfamiliar, Build My Future is more than just a career fair; it’s a hands-on opportunity for students to experience what a career in the trades can truly look like. From operating heavy equipment to learning about welding trades and exploring cutting-edge technology, students got a glimpse into the many pathways available to them in construction, electrical, HVAC, and beyond.

Steve

The Heart Behind the Initiative

This event holds a special place in our hearts at MCC, especially for Steve Turner, our Business Development Manager. Steve was one of a small group of visionaries who launched Build My Future NWA four years ago. His passion for this initiative is evident in every detail of the event. Whether he’s coordinating with exhibitors, greeting students, or ensuring everything runs smoothly, Steve’s dedication shines through.

Highlights from the Event

Students engaged with interactive exhibits from over 70 exhibitors. Some highlights included:

  • Electrical Control Panels: Students partnered with MCC mentors to explore the intricacies of electrical systems, assembling and troubleshooting control panels.
  • Welding and Service Demonstrations: MCC showcased advanced welding setups and provided insights into our service operations. These activities offered students a comprehensive look at the skill and craftsmanship that go into every project
  • Equipment Demos: From mini excavators, masonry to virtual reality setups, students got a firsthand look at the tools of the trade.
  • Mentorship Moments: MCC mentors and other exhibitors played an integral role in connecting with students, sharing their expertise, and inspiring the next generation.

The timeline of 22 days was a significant challenge. During fabrication, everyone was committed to efficient production and ongoing quality assurance. Several long days and split shifts were required to meet the project deadline. The team quickly formulated solutions to overcome installation obstacles, including delayed electrical inspection and shipping.

A Collaborative Effort

Events like Build My Future wouldn’t be possible without the incredible sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers who dedicate their time and resources. MCC’s booths were filled with activity, thanks to our teams from our Electrical, Fabrication, Millwright and Service Divisions. From answering questions to guiding students through demonstrations, our team made sure every participant left feeling excited about the possibilities.
